| MBA Darden School, University of Virginia BFA School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston BA magna cum laude with highest thesis honors, Tufts University. Rebecca Goldberg Oliver was born in Washington, DC in 1974. In Boston, she studied painting with Gerry Bergstein and Louis Gippetti. She was a high school art instructor and an active participant in a gallery. She was a member of The Art School (SMFA) Cheerleaders, a nationally acclaimed performance troupe. Rebecca moved to Richmond in 1999. She is married and has two young sons. She is currently reinventing her satirical cheerleading performance group in Richmond as The Art Cheerleaders and plans to perform at the 1708 Gallery's Wearable Art X show, at La Difference, on November 10th of this year. Her work is highlighted in over one hundred private US collections and is represented in France and the Bahamas. One of her oil landscapes, Winter Tree (2001), is exhibited in the permanent collection of the Medical College of Virginia. Another of her works, Campground Picnic (2006) was on the cover of the Richmond magazine Natural Awakenings. She has also produced a set of greeting cards to be offered by the Massey Cancer Center at Virginia Commonwealth University, available online April 2007. In May 2007, she was featured in the Arts & Culture section of Style Weekly, May 30-June 5 2007, p 21-22. In September 2007 she will be honored by the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston with an alumni profile on the school's home page. |
